Is Caraway Stainless Steel Worth the Hype? Plus, a free soup recipe!

Updated: Apr 3

If you’ve been here for a bit, you know I love my non-toxic Caraway cookware, bakeware, and food storage! Every piece performs well, holds up to my daily cooking for our family of six, and they are always stunning! There hasn’t been a time I have served our guests with the cookware or bakeware without comments on how beautiful the pieces are. The food storage is always the best vessel for picnics and parties. Fewer dishes always feel like a win! Next up on my list to test was the stainless steel line. I decided to try the Dutch Oven, and it did not disappoint! Make sure to save the soup recipe to try it yourself!

What Isn't Included

Caraway prides itself on creating functional, high-quality, non-toxic, eco-friendly products. It is one thing to call yourself a clean brand, but I have always loved their transparency about what their products are free of and why. The stainless steel is free from PFOA, PFAs, PTFE, lead, cadmium, and more. Hover your cursor over any of the toxic materials to learn why they are not used in Caraway stainless steel. In a time when I feel I need to question most things I bring into our home, Caraway takes the guesswork out of my cookware fears!

How About the Quality?

Like all of the products, the Dutch oven is a solid piece. It looks and feels like higher-end brands without the sticker shock! Some common challenges with stainless steel include food sticking, stubborn stains, and uneven heat. I decided to test the Stainless Steel Dutch Oven with one of our favorite Italian soups, Pasta e Fagioli. I knew this recipe would put the durability to the test with the need for high, even heat and the use of acidity with the tomatoes. Caraway's 5-Ply Stainless Steel is able to maintain heat more efficiently than other brands. You'll never need to go higher than medium heat to brown, sear, or boil! I use wood or silicone utensils while cooking with stainless steel and hand wash with warm, soapy water. Usually, the scene below from browning the meat would cause me to dread the clean up after dinner...

Adding olive oil and vegetables with salt and pepper loosened all the browned bits quickly!

For the rest of the cooking time, I brought the temperature to a boil and slowed it down to a simmer without any issues. I used a lower temperature for each stage due to how well the stainless steel distributed and maintained the heat. The heavy-duty lid has the perfect seal!

The end result was a beautiful pot of soup, ready to be topped with salty parmesan and devoured by our hungry crew! Clean up was a breeze with some soapy, warm water, and a standard kitchen sponge.

The Verdict

Overall, the Stainless Steel Dutch oven exceeded my expectations! The even heat distribution, excellent quality, functionality, and ease of cleaning make this my new favorite product from Caraway's non-toxic line. I plan to add more from the stainless steel line to our kitchen tools asap. Run, don't walk to check out the line!

You'll want to test out the recipe for yourself!
