Every Maple Recipe You Need

Each year, as winter comes to a close and the warmer temperatures of spring begin, the annual tradition of maple sugaring commences! From the plink, plink, plink of each sap droplet hitting the buckets to the sweet aroma of boiling in the air, the final and most exciting joy of enjoying your delectable maple syrup over homemade pancakes is an experience that is hard to beat! We are busy here on the farm as we boil as many days as possible. It is a long process of about 12 hours for just our outdoor boil. We do the finish boil indoors for a few more hours before one last filter. I log roughly ten miles on the days we boil. Collecting sap water in heavy 5-gallon buckets, hauling wood to our evaporator, tending the fire, adding more sap water, and constantly checking levels in our pans is a repeated cycle all day. I always welcome a hot bath once we put our fire out for the day!

We aim to have enough maple syrup to last a full year after gifting bottles to our family and friends. We've been fortunate to achieve this goal for the last three years! I continue developing new recipes to enjoy our harvest, and I wanted to share our favorites! Want to learn more about our maple sugaring? Follow along here, and click the Maple highlight! We share our best tips, along with all of the tools we use!

Maple Blueberry Sauce

We use our own wild Maine blueberries and maple syrup in this recipe. It is delicious on everything from yogurt and ice cream to pancakes and waffles! It is a star ingredient in many of the recipes below! You only need three ingredients and a few minutes to enjoy some at home!

Wolf Pine Waffles

Our waffles are crispy on the exterior and perfectly fluffy inside! They are wonderfully flavorful but are delicious, topped with fresh berries, our Maple Blueberry Sauce, a dusting of powdered sugar, or homemade whipped cream. We celebrated the end of our Maine maple syrup season by enjoying these waffles! We often make a double batch, store the cooled waffles, and reheat them the next day in the toaster!

Buttermilk Pancakes

Our buttermilk pancakes are fluffy, flavorful, and can be easily adjusted to feed a crowd! We have been making this recipe for over a decade, and I still won't change a thing! We love to add in blueberries, chocolate chips, or sprinkles for birthdays.

Maple Crunch Granola

A batch of this granola will fill your home with an amazing aroma, and you won't be able to let it cool before digging in! We sweeten the recipe with our own maple syrup we make each spring and a blend of nuts that makes everyone in our family happy! This is a great recipe for children to help with! We've given bags of granola as part of Christmas gift baskets as well!

Apple Hand Pies with maple glaze

When our apples ripen, we enjoy cooking up our favorite hand pies! We grow two varieties of apples, Cortland and McIntosh. Cortland is our preferred apple for baking, but use your local favorite!

Blueberry Bagels

Blueberries are plentiful for us here in Maine! The wild ones we harvest each summer are bursting with flavor! Our growing season is short, so I wanted to write this recipe using frozen blueberries, which are what we rely on for the majority of the year. I am always trying to find new uses for our Maple Blueberry Sauce, so it makes an appearance in these chewy bagels.

Blueberry Cheese Danish

We use our Blueberry Maple Sauce for this light and flaky cheese danish. The vanilla glaze brings all the flavors together for the perfect treat! You may also enjoy using our recipe for Grammie's Raspberry Jam as an option!
